BESH WHAT?).Īnd even though I like the premise behind the Reckless series, basically having a world behind a Mirror that is very similar (at least geographically) to our real world and then having each book in the series focus on a different country or continent and exploring myths and fairy tales from that continent. and I found that kinda contrived? I mean, I understand that it's important to the plot, but then at least make it more exciting and not so boring and low-key cringey ('als sie sich im Schatten eines Steindrachen geliebt hatten'. Jacob is still high-key obsessed (and therefore possessive) of her, and overall, Cornelia constantly felt the need to mention that the two of them are sleeping with each other. I generally like the two of them but this is the first book in which they are a proper couple and they were getting on my nerves most of the time.

In addition to that, I wasn't the biggest fan of the relationship between Jacob and Fuchs in this instalment. It's extremely confusing and quite frankly, unnecessary, because for the majority of the book many of the characters are in the same place. Personally, I think this book suffered from having way too many POVs, like literally every character that plays a semi-important role in this book gets at least one chapter from their POV. Which is not great for a book that I anticipated for the last five years, but it's fine.

At the end of the day I think it was an okay read. Oh boy, where do I begin? I kinda enjoyed it but I also kinda feel like this read was a slog and a lot of the plot points felt contrived.
